Professor Tahir Hussain

Dr. Tahir Husain is a professor of environmental engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada since 1995. He was also a visiting scientist at Harvard School of Public Health in 1995. He has also served as Director of Continuing Engineering Education (2002-2005), Chair of Civil Engineering (2005-2007) and Director of the Executive MBA Program in Petroleum since 2011.

Dr. Husain has more than 30 years of international experience in environmental discipline. His research interest includes environmental and human health risk assessment, site remediation, treatment technology, environmental modeling and decision making. He has published more than 200 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and has contributed on about 60 research projects nationally and internationally. He has also authored a book on Kuwait Oil Fires in 1995.  Prior to joining Memorial University in 1995, Dr. Husain worked with the Research Institute at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals for more than 16 years where he contributed on more than 35 research projects and established several research programs.
