Prof. Dr. Tahir Husain

Prof. Dr. Tahir Husain has a PhD degree in civil engineering from University of British Columbia and currently Professor and Associate Dean (Research) at Memorial University in Canada with 35 years’ international experience in water and environmental disciplines.

He was a visiting scientist at Harvard School of Public Health in 1995; Director of Continuing Engineering Education (2002-2005), Chair of Civil Engineering (2005-2007); and Director, Executive MBA in Petroleum (2010-2011) at Memorial University.

His research interests are in risk assessment, environmental modeling, and technology development. He wrote a book on Kuwaiti Oil Fires and has contributed on 300 research publications; he has contributed on 70 research projects worldwide.

Dr. Husain worked with the Research Institute at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia for 16 years (1979-95) and has received several awards including OAPEC award on Kuwait Oil Fires and Gulf Oil Spill.
