Adel Farid Abdel-Kader

Adel Abdel-Kader is currently the Officer of Charge of UNEP Regional Office for West Asia, and the Regional Coordinator in West Asia of UNEP’s Division of Early Warning Assessment. He is an expert in integrated environmental assessment and reporting, policy analysis, environmental information systems and knowledge management; coastal and marine environment, decision support, strategic planning and management, scenario development, and the use of remote sensing and GIS in environmental applications. Before working with UNEP, he worked as senior advisor for the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), and as professor at Mansoura University in Egypt. He has over than 34 years of work experience in the field of environment, 18 of which working with international organisations. During his career, he also worked as advisor and consultants to several governments and international organisations. Mr. Abdel-Kader holds a Ph D from Mansoura University (Egypt) and the Ohio State University (USA), and a Masters degree from the College of Marine Studies, University of Delaware (USA). He also received graduate education at Florida Institute of Technology (USA) in the field of Oceanography, and a bachelor of science from Mansoura University, Egypt. He received several awards and honors and has authored more than 100 articles, reports, and book chapters.
